Romeitseewatuu

We trained it down to Rome for the weekend. Rome is probably cooler than any of you think it is. It has a country within itself. That isn't cooler than nothin' else. Vatican City (The magical state within the magical city of Rome) was cool, probably almost as cool as the Forum. The Forum is the place where all the sweet (or bitter, probably) politicians and religious heads used to hand out in ancient Rome. It is also the place that the oldest church in the world still stands. The Forum is probably most comparable to our Mall, in D.C. Politics galore.
The Colosseum, in my opinion, was almost as cool as it has been cracked up to be. I think that I probably would have thought it so if I hadn't been exposed to the greatness of the Forum afterward. The grandeur of the structure itself was pretty mind blowing, but the thing that caused the head to blow away like a leaf the most was the history of the place. Do you know what they did in there? People fought with other people, lions, tigers, elephants, hippopotamus', alligators, and tons of other animals. They would throw prisoners in there to fight each other to the death. Violence, the colosseum was mostly used for violence as entertainment. But that was just the exciting stuff that only happened during the rule of some emperors, under rulings of slightly more recent emperors the colosseum was just left to fall to ruin. Today it is used to lure money out of the pockets of tourists, luckily we got in on a very rare holiday (Mayd
ay) when the emission price was ONE EURO instead of twelve.

And then there is Vatican City, and the
long journey to the top of St. Peters. St. Peters is the church that was built there in respect to Peter, who we know was martyred there (the Bible hints at crucifixion, the C
atholic church says it was done upside down) and it is the church with the tallest dome in the whole world. The reward for climbing to the top of the dome was pretty good; you got an amazing view of Rome (see some pictures below).

Sorry I didn't go into any more detail about anything on this post, I'm very tired and still have quite a bit to do. I will post the rest of Rome pictures tomorrow. Too tired.
